Our Wedding

Location &amp; Time:The wedding ceremony will take place at 6pm at the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin at the old port of Rhodes' town. If your accommodation is in the city, you can walk to the church. You can also take the “wedding bus” that we arranged from the church to the wedding venue and back. History:The Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin, also known as Evangelismos Church, was constructed in the 1920s, during the Italian occupation of the island. The design was based on the architecture of the Medieval Gothic Church of Saint John, adjacent to the Palace of the Grand Master in the Old Town.The church served the Italian Catholic community up until 1948 when Rhodes and the other Dodecanese Islands were reunified with mainland Greece. It was then turned into a Greek Orthodox Church and was declared the Cathedral of Rhodes. The church was and remains part of the living history of the island and the Dodecanese. The most important part of this history took place in the church or in front of it, such as the ceremony of the unification of the Dodecanese with Greece, the enthronement of the Metropolitans of Rhodes, the celebrations and the visits of historical figures, heads of state, patriarchs, etc.

Built in the late 1920s during the Italian period of the island, it was designed as a luxurious spa and social gathering place, inspired by classical architecture and Mediterranean elegance. For decades, visitors from all over Europe came here to enjoy the healing waters, the sea breeze, and the refined beauty of the surroundings. After careful restoration, Kallithea Springs has been brought back to life, preserving its original mosaics, domes, and graceful arches. Today, it stands as a unique blend of history and natural beauty, where crystal-clear waters meet stunning architecture and lush landscapes. Overlooking the Aegean Sea and bathed in golden light, Kallithea Springs is a place where the past meets the present — a setting filled with romance, serenity, and timeless charm. How to get there?

Rhodes is easily accessible by air, with direct international flights from several European cities, including Brussels and Charleroi. Alternatively, Rhodes can be reached via a connecting flight through Athens, with frequent daily services.Rhodes is also well connected to other Greek islands (e.g., Symi, Chalki, Kos, Patmos) by ferry, making it a wonderful stop for those wishing to combine the celebration with island hopping.

Getting around Rhodes

Rhodes is a relatively large island of Greece. The easiest and most flexible option is to rent a car, especially if you plan to explore beaches and villages outside the city. Check a rental company in this website’s section “Travel &amp; Accommodation.” The biggest distance by car from the city of Rhodes (eg to the southern part) can be around 1h30m long. Alternatively, taxis are widely available in Rhodes Town and can take you to popular destinations, though they can be more expensive for longer distances and not always easy to find. There are also local buses connecting the main town with places like Lindos and Faliraki. They are a budget-friendly option but may be less convenient depending on timing. For shorter distances within the city, walking is ideal—especially in the Old Town, where cars are not allowed.

What to do in the city of Rhodes?

Rhodes Town is divided into the Old Town and the New Town, both worth exploring. The Old Town is a UNESCO-listed medieval city full of history, charming alleys, shops (open until late), restaurants, and bars. Don’t miss the Palace of the Grand Master and take time to wander beyond the main streets. In the New Town, stroll along Mandraki Harbour, where you’ll see the famous deer statues marking the entrance—rumour has it that there stood once the legendary Colossus of Rhodes once stood. The area features beautiful Italian-era buildings such as the Town Hall, Post Office, and Theatre. Enjoy a walk through the city centre for shopping, coffee or food. You may notice shops that sell exclusively umbrellas - odd enough, this has become a local trademark. For a cultural stop, visit the Acropolis of Rhodes (Monte Smith), home to the Temple of Apollo and an ancient stadium. It’s easily accessible and offers stunning sunset views. During the day, you can relax at Elli Beach, where you’ll also find stylish beach bars that turn lively in the evening. There is also the italian-built Trampolino, another landmark of the island.

What to do outside of the city of Rhodes?

Rhodes has many beautiful spots to explore beyond the city. A must-visit is Lindos, a picturesque white village with narrow streets, great restaurants, and the famous Acropolis of Lindos. The climb can be challenging in the heat, so we recommend going early morning or late afternoon—but the view is absolutely worth it. Nearby, St. Paul’s Bay is one of the island’s most stunning beaches. Other beautiful beaches include Anthony Quinn Bay, Ladiko, Kallithea Springs (also an impressive Italian monument where the wedding reception will take place), Tsampika Beach, Pefki, Afantou Beach and Traganou Beach. In the southern part you can find amazing beaches, like Kiotari (eg Lighthouse beach bar), Gennadi (eg Mojito beach bar), Lachania and Mavros Kavos. Nature lovers can visit the Seven Springs or the Valley of the Butterflies. For something unique, head to Prasonisi at the southern tip of the island, where two seas meet—perfect for windsurfing.

Day trips or short trips from Rhodes by boat

1. Symi islandJust a short ferry ride from Rhodes (approx. 1h), Symi is famous for its colourful neoclassical houses, picturesque harbour, and beautiful beaches.
